Job Summary

Interns will work alongside experienced Dominion System Protection personnel to learn the technology used in the protection of the Electric Grid. The Field positions will assist with the installation, maintenance and operation of control systems and protective devices. Specific functions will include verification of protective relay panel wiring and logic function verification.

Data communication technology is also learned as smart microprocessor relays provide information to Operating Centers. Cyber Security applications will be learned as well as NERC compliance maintenance regulations. These positions will be introduced to the System Protection Development Program for a view of employment requirements of successfully completing the Development Program.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Strongly prefer candidates that desire hands on experience vs. design experience
  • Strongly prefer candidates with good problem solving skills while working with mechanical and/or electrical equipment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Math and technical/mechanical aptitude required
  • Must be able to follow instructions and be a team player
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management and organization

Education Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student majoring in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Must have an anticipated graduation date between May 2020 and May 2022.
  • Must have a 2. 5 cumulative GPA or higher.
